love letter.1

a feather fell

before my feet

i'd been six weeks

without a thought

beyond this

tired

dross

road weary wanderers

make for

inspiration

squanderers

but i'd had my fill

the night

before

another vacant

hungry

gaping

door

into which i

entered

for some fleeting sense of

feeling

centred

this band of mine don't

stay in

tune

the prayers i bleed

don't reach the

moon

everything just stays

this way

that way

bereft

resolve

another day

with life

to solve

the horses couldn't bear our

weight

security kept us

at the

gate

whereat a host of

virgins

met us with their

flaming

crowns

for we

ghost men

of such

renown

for all the hollow

in which we

wisen

eyes still follow

unto

horizon

hoping for a single

note or

word

come free the

throat

a soaring

bird

another anthem

liturgy

repleted

mind numb

liberty

the after show

wreaks of ever

present

truth

the eyes we wear

shall bear the

proof

then later on the

lurching

bus

they ask why i'm not one of

"us"

unto distant places

all too

known

where seeds ill-spent

were direly

sown

and i've no this or

that

to say

no hope for

tomorrow nor

today

for blurred crusade

soul vacant halls i'm

up to

task

glazed eyes

seep what they'll

finally

ask

us to play again

again

it's just the same

the same

corridor of this

migratory

flight

from

form

escape the

blight

evade the

norm

so play

like it's your

last

insufferable

human

day

i take the

feather

from the earth

and wonder at our

tethers

what e'er we deem their

abstract

worth

for whatever

any of it really

means

across these

transsynaptic

gutless

scenes

these shades just don't

obscure

enough

the drummer prancing

in the

buff

beats cadence unto

marked

ways

a prelude to our

waning

days

and that's the last

thing i will think

tonight

a single

hopeful

flying

kite

hanging

solemn

overhead

wish you were

here

not there

instead
